John Cena is back in WWE and will challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam, but that doesn’t mean Cena’s acting career is over. In fact, John Cena has a new comedy coming out next month called Vacation Friends that will stream on Hulu on August 27.
Yesterday 20th Century Studios released a red band trailer for the upcoming comedy Vacation Friends, starring John Cena and Lil Rel Howery. The trailer tells the story of an engaged couple who find themselves reconnecting with another couple they met while vacationing in Mexico, but not particularly by choice. Beyond streaming on Hulu in August for the United States, it will also air internationally on Disney+.
The trailer is a red band, which means there is a lot of content not suitable for children. The embedded trailer below is most certainly not safe for work.
The cast of Vacation Friends stars John Cena (The Suicide Squad) as Ron, Lil Rel Howery (Get Out) as Marcus, Yvonne Orji (Insecure) as Emily, Meredith Hagner (Palm Springs) as Kyla. The movie will also feature Robert Wisdom, Andrew Bachelor, and Lynn Whitfield.
This means John Cena will have two movies to promote in August while working with WWE with Vacation Friends and the DC Comics film The Suicide Squad that will be shown in theaters and HBO Max on August 6. Suicide Squad is directed by James Gunn, who was behind the Marvel Studios Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
