John Cena, a WWE superstar, recently opened up during a “Jake’s Takes” interview, about one of the most memorable insults he ever received from fans. He shared a unique incident where audience members persistently returned his printed t-shirt at the ECW One Night Stand event.
Recalling that it happened at the Hammerstein Ballroom, Cena said: “Oh I always remember the crowd there. They kept throwing my t-shirt back at me. That evening, my fundamental challenge was not fighting Rob Van Dam for the WWE Championship, but contending with my own t-shirt and the ECW fans assault. This is surely a remarkable insult that I recollect. You can’t fathom the impact until you experience someone denouncing a free shirt emblazoned with your face at an event where merchandise sale is a significant part.”
The ace wrestler grabbed headlines in July when he revealed plans to hang up his wrestling boots in 2025. As per his retirement plan, while the Royal Rumble 2025, Elimination Chamber 2025, and WrestleMania 41 will be some of his last pageants, his final bout is penned for December 2025.
