John Cena, well-known for his legacy in WWE, appeared on this week’s episode of WWE RAW. Although his classic theme music and costume were on display, the audience’s reactions were a mix of jeers and cheers. Fans alternated between chanting “Let’s Go, Cena” and “Cena Sucks.”
In an emotionally charged monologue, Cena accused the fans of holding him to unrealistic expectations for over two decades. Rejecting the binary of being seen as either a hero or villain, he expressed annoyance with the incessant criticism, even when he talked about retirement. Cena reproached the fans for showing a lack of concern for his personal well-being, likening their relationship to toxicity.
Then, Cody Rhodes appeared, receiving rapturous applause. He hit back at Cena’s claims, stating that fans’ harsh criticism of him was due to knowing his never-give-up spirit. Insisting to be addressed as the “WWE Champion,” Rhodes conveyed discontentment with Cena’s current image. He warned the audience that the Cena they are seeing now would lose at WrestleMania 41, leaving Cena alone in the ring.
On Twitter, Cena expressed, “My point is, no matter what I do, it is never enough, and you should all be ashamed of yourselves.” Taking delegatory terms, Rhodes mentioned, “I don’t want to wrestle this “whiny” version of John Cena at WrestleMania.”
