John Cena made his long-awaited return to the wrestling ring tonight, as he came back to Friday Night SmackDown in his hometown of Massachusetts. Unfortunately for fans, things almost didn’t go as planned, as Cena seemed to hint that he wouldn’t be looking to do any more wrestling. In the ring, Cena said that matches at WrestleMania needed to be earned, and not demanded, and that he was happy to let the future of WWE take control of the biggest night in sports entertainment.

As he began to depart up the stage and salute the WWE universe for the last time, though, the lights began to go out. When they came back on, The Fiend was standing behind him, and he must not have been listening to Cena, because he promptly demanded a match by pointing at the WrestleMania sign. After thinking on it for a moment, Cena seemingly agreed, nodding his head to the Fiend before the lights once again went out.
