During a recent interview with “MuscleMan Malcolm,” Joey Janela revealed that it’s always been a goal/dream of his to get to WWE before he calls it a career.

On WWE being a potential goal for his career: “Yeah, there’s a lot of things I want to do. I’m 34 now, so we still have a little bit. There’s still goals. I have New Japan as a goal, I have Tokyo Dome as a goal. Who knows? For 18 years in the business right now, I’m in pretty good condition. I could always be in better condition, which, it comes in cycles. But hey, if WWE wants to give me a chance, I’m sure we can make that happen. I’m a lot smarter now than I was a few years ago, and I’m a lot more mature, so we can definitely do something there, I believe, with their creative and my creative. We could mesh the minds together and see what happens. It could be a complete disaster. Who knows?”
On how going to WWE has always been a goal and dream of his: “But that’s always been the goal, that’s always been the dream. When I was a kid, there was no AEW, so that was something that just fell in my lap, and I appreciate Tony for taking care of me during COVID, taking care of me during my knee injury and signing me to that deal. But that was never the goal, that was never the dream. WWE was always the dream, besides New Japan and Tokyo Dome and whatnot, all the death match stuff I’ve done, I’ve accomplished basically every single one of my goals, besides WWE, besides a New Japan run. So who knows what’s gonna happen in the next couple years. But I like the independent wrestling scene too much, and I’ll be sad to step away if that opportunity does come.”
On Tuesday, it was officially announced that WWE Monday Night RAW will be moving to Netflix in January 2025.
WWE President Nick Khan recently spoke with Bloomberg Television to discuss the new rights deal and how Netflix can develop projects from WWE’s IP while also building its international reach.

On the potential for Netflix to expand WWE’s reach worldwide: “You saw what Drive to Survive did for Formula One. We think the WWE audience, already big on a global level, only gets bigger with a show like that.”
On Netflix possibly developing projects based on WWE IP: “If you look at what Disney has done, certainly that was through accusation with Marvel, and with Lucasfilm, if you look what Warner Brothers Discovery did when they acquired DC a long time ago, you now have this treasure trove at Netflix that’s available to produce. Things like The Undertaker, characters that have been created over time. We are looking forward to getting into all of that with Netflix as well.”

While he appreciates the opportunities AEW has provided him, he still hopes to have a chance to showcase his skills in WWE. Janela believes that with his experience and maturity, he could collaborate with WWE’s creative team to create something special, although he acknowledges that it could also be a complete disaster.
Despite his aspirations to join WWE, Janela also expressed his love for the independent wrestling scene. He mentioned that he would be sad to step away from it if the opportunity to join WWE arises. Janela has accomplished many of his goals in the wrestling industry, including participating in death matches, but WWE and a run in New Japan are still on his list.
