In his recent “Gabby AF” podcast feature, TNA wrestling sensation Joe Hendry discussed his aspirations of wrestling Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and John Cena someday.
The following are some key takeaways from his conversation:
In reference to the cooperation between WWE and TNA, he said, “This might seem bizarre, but I want you to hold onto this snippet of conversation. Considering that NXT is collaborating with TNA, as a TNA talent, I have the space to dream about all these potential matches and scenarios. I have faith, for some strange reason, that one day I will come face to face with The Rock in a professional wrestling ring. I found an online promo of me challenging The Rock back in 2017. It’s a strong belief in my heart, and I can’t explain why, but I’m certain that it’s going to happen one day.”
While recalling his encounter with John Cena at the age of 15, he shared, “I am very interested in in-depth wrestling interviews. I have seen Cody Rhodes on Ariel Helwani and John Cena on Chris Van Vliet. With the position I now hold, these interviews are more relevant to me than before and I take cues from them. John Cena suggested that the volume of stars in professional wrestling is due to the field being wide open. This statement resonated with me, that’s when I started planning a strategy for my social media presence. My friend contacted me through his mobile when I was 15. I couldn’t attend a wrestling match for some reason, but my friend did, and he was in the VIP section. I get a call, and who do I hear on the line? It’s John Cena. We had a chat for about ten minutes in which we discussed his career. I predicted his win at WrestleMania, and it happened. I believe there’s full circle experience waiting to happen with John Cena. I’m not sure how or when, but I’m pretty sure our paths will cross again. Those are just a couple of the names I’d like to toss out there.”
