Joe Hendry, a major contributor to the historical WWE NXT-TNA Wrestling merger, has recently shared that he has been granted full-time training at the WWE Performance Center situated in Orlando, FL.
While in conversation with Matt Camp during his “Wrestling Matt” podcast episode, Hendry unpacked his experiences of training under the guidance of Terry Taylor, both within the wrestling ring and in the promo classes held at the Performance Center.
Below are key takeaways from the podcast:
Concerning his role in the TNA-WWE crossover: “It’s an incredible situation where there is an unprecedented collaboration between TNA Wrestling and WWE. TNA Wresting has coordinated with WWE such that I can perform in TNA Wrestling as a contracted wrestler, make appearances on NXT, and receive full-time training at the Performance Center, along with participating in Indies and taking part in signings. This is an unparalleled arrangement that has never been implemented previously in the business. Hence, I am grateful to TNA and WWE for making this possible.”
About his commitment to self-improvement through the collaboration: “I am devoid of any ego when it boils down to enhancing my skills. That’s why I am undertaking training at the Performance Center. I’m not one to be complacent with the skills I already possess. I’m always striving to improve further. I am sincerely thankful to TNA Wrestling for providing me with this opportunity. I believe I am collaborating effectively with the management, and we are in a position to achieve historical records for TNA.”
On his interaction with Shawn Michaels: “From a training standpoint, Shawn has presented me with an enormous opportunity. Shawn stated, ‘Hey, the door is open. If you wish to train at the Performance Center, we’re prepared to open that door.’ I happily agreed and requested a week to organize my personal affairs back home in Scotland. We then proceeded to finalize the details. At present, I am undergoing training at the Performance Center stationed in Orlando, and relishing the fantastic opportunity of learning from the ultimate in-ring performer of all time.”
