Being released from WWE is rarely fun, but for Jinder Mahal, it was the best thing to happen to the Modern-Day Maharaja in 2014.

Mahal was among those cut from the promotion alongside 3MB ally Drew McIntyre, Evan Bourne, Brodus Clay, Teddy Long, Curt Hawkins, and JTG, among others.

On a recent edition of the “Insight” podcast, Mahal reflected on being cut from WWE and the motivation the setback provided him. He said,

“Looking back, being released was probably the best thing that happened to me. In all fairness, I wouldn’t have got as motivated or changed my mindset as much, ’cause getting released, like, you reflect, getting that second opportunity, having that appreciation for that second run … I had become complacent when I was in 3MB, just phoning it in. Not putting in the best effort which is absolutely wrong, especially in WWE because you can’t take this career or time in WWE for granted.”

Mahal would be rehired by WWE in 2016 and would capture the WWE Championship the next year. He was released from WWE for the second time earlier this month.

Jinder Mahal Reflects on Being Released from WWE and Finding Motivation

In the world of professional wrestling, being released from WWE can be a devastating blow to one’s career. However, for Jinder Mahal, it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to him. In 2014, Mahal was among the wrestlers cut from the promotion, but little did he know that this setback would ultimately lead to his rise to stardom.

Mahal, who was part of the popular faction 3MB alongside Drew McIntyre, found himself without a job in WWE. Reflecting on this experience during a recent episode of the “Insight” podcast, Mahal revealed that being released was a turning point in his life.

“Looking back, being released was probably the best thing that happened to me,” Mahal said. “In all fairness, I wouldn’t have gotten as motivated or changed my mindset as much if I hadn’t been released. Getting that second opportunity and having that appreciation for a second run made me realize that I had become complacent in 3MB. I was just phoning it in and not putting in my best effort, which is absolutely wrong, especially in WWE where you can’t take this career or time for granted.”

Mahal’s honesty about his complacency and lack of effort during his first stint in WWE is refreshing. It shows that even professional athletes can fall into a rut and lose sight of their passion. However, his release served as a wake-up call and ignited a fire within him to prove himself once again.

After being rehired by WWE in 2016, Mahal made the most of his second chance. In 2017, he shocked the wrestling world by capturing the prestigious WWE Championship. This victory not only solidified his place in WWE history but also showcased his dedication and hard work.

Unfortunately, Mahal’s second run with WWE came to an end earlier this month when he was released from the company for the second time. While it may seem like a setback, Mahal remains optimistic and grateful for the opportunities he has had.

“Being released again is disappointing, but I’ve learned to never say never in this business,” Mahal said. “I’m thankful for everything WWE has given me, and I’m excited to see what the future holds.”

Mahal’s story serves as a reminder that setbacks can often lead to greater success. His journey from being released to becoming a WWE Champion is a testament to his resilience and determination. It also serves as an inspiration to others who may be facing their own challenges.

As Mahal continues to navigate his wrestling career, one thing is certain: he will approach every opportunity with a renewed sense of motivation and appreciation. And who knows, perhaps we will see the Modern-Day Maharaja back in the WWE ring once again, ready to prove himself and capture the hearts of fans worldwide.
