Professional wrestling veteran, Dustin Rhodes, who has seen the industry through its peaks and troughs and tackled numerous challenges over his career spanning several decades, is highly respected. His recent association with AEW might, however, affect his potential eligibility for the WWE Hall of Fame, according to wrestling commentator Jim Ross.
In a recent episode of his “Grilling JR” podcast, Ross strongly opined that Rhodes unquestionably merits a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame. But he raised concerns that Rhodes’ current professional connection with AEW could act as a stumbling block for this honor.
Ross stated, “He’s a Hall of Famer, without a doubt. I wonder if he’ll ever be enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame. He deserves it but because of his relationship with Tony Khan and AEW, which is well deserved, it may never happen and that’s unfortunate. I feel close to him, I feel a kinship to him still today and it’s growing because I’m so proud of the fact that he’s not dependent on drugs and alcohol, [he] saved his life. There’s no way that Dustin would have been alive today if he had not made those changes.”
Even The Undertaker had once stated his confidence in Rhodes’ suitability for the WWE Hall of Fame. However, whether or not Rhodes will ultimately secure a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame is still uncertain.
