Jim Ross, during the most recent session of his podcast “Grilling JR”, opened up about his health issues.
Importantly, he recounted an event from just a month ago, where he was rushed to the emergency room due to breathlessness. This health crisis, unfortunately, forced him to skip the AEW Double or Nothing 2024 pay-per-view event. Ross recalled,
“I’m in a decent place, Connie. Glad to see you. Things are looking up, improving every day. I’m currently stationed in Oklahoma, which works well for me. I made the trip back here a fortnight ago, felt it was time to evaluate things at home. But en route, I got hit with a virus, not a pleasant experience at all. My friend and website manager, Steven Link, brought me home when I arrived. I was in poor shape, couldn’t explain why. We decided to seek emergency medical attention, and I was immediately admitted to the hospital, which was rather frightening. I was in an Oklahoma hospital for three nights, not a great experience. They diagnosed me with what they refer to as virus A or something along those lines. I had a tough time for three days, but managed to fight through it, as I usually do. Seems like I always bounce back. Just can’t lose, not here in Oklahoma. That’s akin to [Jerry] Lawler getting beaten in Memphis, it just doesn’t happen. So, I spent a few days in the hospital.”
He went on to add, “Obviously, I was discharged and am not in the hospital now, and am feeling better. The issue was with a virus, caught me off-guard. I had to be put on supplemental oxygen, even had an oxygen machine installed at home. I’ve stopped using it now, don’t need it any more. Had a bit of a struggle, but that’s life. Growing older isn’t without its drawbacks. Regardless, I’m soldiering on. I feel quite fit, actually. I have a few commitments on the horizon. My next road trip will be for the upcoming AEW pay-per-view, so I’m preparing to get back into the swing of things. To the best of my knowledge, I’ll be present at the next pay-per-view event. Tony Khan hasn’t expressed otherwise, and I thank him for his unwavering support. I feel lucky to have such a generous boss and am grateful to him. He’s nicer to me than he needs to be, and I appreciate that immensely.”
