During a recent episode of the “Grilling JR” podcast, WWE Hall of Fame inductee Jim Ross reflected on the depiction of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin as the company’s new CEO in 1999. Ross also spoke about the production of the comedic skits that were shot at the Titan Tower.
Here are some key points from Ross’ reflection on the podcast:
Talking about the skits, Ross said, “Austin perfectly embodied the character in a variety of roles and descriptions. His priceless performance even outside the ring was just as effective and engaging as his stint in the ring as the Texas Rattlesnake. Austin’s portrayal undoubtedly resonated with audiences. This new kind of venture excited him as he enjoyed exploring and experimenting with new ideas. I can confidently say that he did a fantastic job with the character he was given.”
Discussing his role in the production of these skits, Ross revealed, “My role was more of a facilitator, arranging for the right people to be present during filming. The filming was spontaneous with no pre-established script. We had a general direction for the skit, however, we chose to let Austin take the reins as it was his show. The absence of a script offered Austin an avenue to showcase his creative prowess and he excelled at it.”
