The wrestling world knew Randy Savage as an extraordinary personality, however, Jim Ross experienced a different side of the Macho Man after a certain remark during an interview.
In a recent episode of his podcast “Grilling JR”, Ross shared a memory of an encounter he had with Savage when the latter took umbrage at an alleged comment Ross made during an interview. Recalling the incident, he states,
“Savage was a bona fide superstar, yet he had a streak of being tough to deal with. It’s not easy speaking ill of those who are no longer with us, nevertheless, there were moments when he was not the nicest guy around. He confronted me at the TV station over something I supposedly said in a general interview.”
“He came up to me at the TV station, giving me a piece of his mind when suddenly, an intimidating shadow loomed over us. It was Gorilla and that marked the end of our confrontation at that juncture.”
Ross chose not to disclose the controversial comment, but he is just one of many in wrestling who have spoken about Savage’s tumultuous nature.
Savage’s fiery temper and his overprotective nature towards his then-wife, Miss Elizabeth, have been topics of conversation among various wrestlers over the years.
In May 2011, Savage passed away due to a heart attack he experienced while behind the wheel. The WWE inducted him posthumously into their Hall of Fame in 2015.
In the same podcast, Ross opened up about the unfortunate accident in 1999 that left Darren Drozdov paralyzed. Click here to read more.
