Jim Ross, the veteran wrestling commentator, has mused about the prospect of former WWE executive Shane McMahon potentially showing up in All Elite Wrestling. Although McMahon comes from a long lineage of WWE management, Ross considered a switch to AEW a possibility on the latest episode of his podcast “Grilling JR.”
During his conversation with Conrad Thompson, he reflected on the notion of Shane joining AEW. Ross didn’t immediately dismiss the concept, claiming, “It’s so unorthodox that it might just work.” He further stated that a lot would depend on the circumstances of such a transition and its execution.
Ross remarked, “Shane gave me a call just the other day, something that took place two or three times, and I am really grateful for the gesture.”He continued, “Shane has always shown sensitivity in this aspect. Only Shane could offer a definitive answer to this question. The prospect of Shane forging a creative partnership with Tony Khan is open-ended. No one can predict the outcome. However, Shane’s decision lies at the heart of it all. He needs to decide what he wants.”
Shane McMahon parted ways with WWE in 2022 following certain backstage occurrences at that year’s Royal Rumble event. However, he made a comeback at the WWE main stage WrestleMania 39 held in April 2023.
Since sustaining a quadriceps injury during his match at WrestleMania 39, McMahon has kept a low profile in the WWE, but he was recently spotted enjoying a New York Yankees game.
