In a recent episode of the much-loved “Grilling JR” podcast, AEW presenter, Jim Ross, conveyed his viewpoint regarding the intense controversy stirred up by the level of violence at the AEW All Out 2024.
Below are key points extracted from the podcast discussion:
Regarding the heated debate over the intensity of violence during the AEW All Out event, Ross asserted, “Overall, the show proved to be a real entertainer. I’m not typically fond of the plastic bag bit, though I comprehend the reasons behind it. Nevertheless, it doesn’t really resonate with me. This sets the stage for a prospective [Jon] Moxley-Bryan showdown, the idea of which is a bit disconcerting. The stunt was admittedly high-risk and something we wouldn’t want impressionable children emulating. We’re seeing this trend of performers going the extra mile for pay-per-views and other big events. It’s fascinating to observe their strategic thinking. However, I didn’t detest the show. On the contrary, the performances were incredible, the work rate was impressive, and there were a few matches that I particularly relished commentating.”
On the topic of his schedule for the upcoming AEW Grand Slam, Ross stated, “I received word recently about my duty at the Arthur Ashe event, a prospect that always excites me. The unique energy of the setting is something to look forward to and the line-up is action-packed. My new working hours may pose a challenge but I’m ready to embrace the fun.”
When questioned about what sets Arthur Ashe Stadium apart, Ross highlighted, “Being set outdoors is a significant aspect. There is a certain level of acoustics that has to be cleverly managed. The ‘outdoor’ aspect definitely adds a unique twist. The concept of hosting the event at the Arthur Ashe Stadium was Rafael Morffi’s brainchild. In fact, he resides just a stone’s throw away from the stadium. He was the driving force behind the initial plans and successfully set a solid groundwork. Our production team simply has to pick up where Raphael left off. Knowing him, he’ll slide in to check on the arrangements and meet the crew. Morffi’s contribution is invaluable. Despite working with a relatively small team, he displayed strong creativity and leadership. In hindsight, he did an exceptional job.”
