Jim Ross’ Advice To Talent Released By WWE: ‘Hit The Reset Button, Improve Your Brand, Come Back Better Than Ever’

Jim Ross happened to be on the most recent episode of The Roman Show to promote his second autobiography Under The Black Hat and the Boomer Sooner had some direct, yet sharp advice for the talent that was cut by WWE last week: don’t wallow in self-pity and hit the reset button on your brand.

JR made note that it’s key not to feel bad for oneself and know, in a matter of words, that you aren’t the only in-ring talent who has been let go by a major wrestling promotion.

“You think you’re the only person in the wrestling business that has been sit down, or cast away or taken out of your job? Give me a break. The bottom line is it is unfortunate. Some people you wonder why you were let go. There’s gotta be a reason behind-the-scenes. ‘Oh, what about Rusev? Oh, he had this great push – it’s all about the push man.’ (Talk about that on Grilling JR every Thursday) ‘It’s all about the push.’ Well something came up there that made the company not want to do business with Rusev. I don’t know what it is. Have no idea. Has always been a nice kid to me. I think he’s got a great upside, he’s never reached his potential. So I just believe all these guys gotta reset. Look, they’re independent contractors. They’re entrepreneurs. How do you make your brand better?

“So if I were these guys, being let go by WWE would not be the end of the world (trust me, I’ve been there) and it would not end your life. If you’re that weak and that shallow, that this is the only thing in the world ‘I’ve ever wanted to do is only be in the WWE. It’s my dream, I love this,’ then you need to reassess. Hit the reset button, improve your brand, come back better than ever because if you’re good enough and you got a plan, then you’ll get hired. It’s as simple as that. Somebody will hire you, I promise you. Don’t burn bridges, don’t go in a pity party.”

Jim Ross was also pitched the question as to how he feel about The Rock running for Presidency and while he doesn’t think The People’s Champ will raise an eyebrow to the idea, he thinks he’d lay the smackdown on the competition if he ever decided to do so.

“Well, first of all he’d probably get elected. Secondly, I would not advise him to not take such a drastic cut in pay to try and clean up a mess that professional politicians have made. These politicians today are so greedy and so selfish that they make the Coronvirus become a political issue.”

“I knew from the minute I met him, the minute we talked, the first lunch we had, he’s special. I believe in my heart I felt he could do anything and he hasn’t proven me wrong yet. That’s how I look at that. He’d be successful at anything he does and people would like to have a breath of fresh air to what we’ve been accustomed to in the White House. I don’t think he’ll ever run for office, but who knows? If he decides he’d want to at some point for a brand new challenge and to make global history again in a major way you never say never. I’m a believer in Dwayne Johnson and whatever Dwayne Johnson says he’s going to do, I’m never going to doubt him.”
