Damian Priest is grateful for the confidence that Triple H had in him upon his incorporation into NXT.
With an eye towards the careers of Dave Bautista and Diamond Dallas Page, Priest reflects on his own late entry into wrestling as well. Triple H’s faith in him was evident in those last few days of his leadership as Priest rapidly ascended to a pivotal position in NXT.
Priest made a recent appearance on the “Undisputed” podcast where he voiced his appreciation for the early opportunity to play a leadership role in WWE.
“Triple H believed in me,” asserts Priest. “He granted me a leadership role upon my arrival. When things seemed out of control, he’d instruct ‘Let the talent sort it out.’ He would add, ‘Priest, you voice their concerns.’ This was during the Adam Cole, Undisputed ERA era with many other stars around. I was deeply honored.”
In a recent episode of Complex’s Sneaker Shopping series, Jey Uso offered some critique on his cousin Roman Reigns’ fashion sense, focusing on a particular pair of loafers worn to a charity event in 2015.
Jey had this to say: “Definitely. Roman seriously has no clue how to dress properly. If I let it all out, he knows the truth. He’s like, ‘Hey, what’s up?’ He’s always checking in. Yeah, Roman was wearing those terrible loafers, now he’s donning these [Jordans].”
In a recent episode of the “No Contest Wrestling podcast,” Jey Uso made a family-oriented announcement: His mother would be present at ringside for his World Heavyweight Title match against GUNTHER at WrestleMania 41.
Jey shared, “She’s a resilient woman. It must have been tough for her because she had us at 18 and my dad was struggling to make it as a wrestler at the same age, so we were broke. She tried her best, and as we got older, I recognized her sacrifices. We were a tough bunch to raise, four boys. I cherish my mother. We take care of her, she’s queen. She’ll be present at WrestleMania. She’s always had mixed feelings about wrestling, probably due to a mix of good and bad memories from the industry, but now she’s a fan, seeing our progress. She’s excited for the upcoming event. The promo was easy for me to be real because I spoke about my mom. Telling the audience to be silent, it’s a different challenge. Normally, you want the crowd to cheer for you. I was asking for absolute silence so you could feel the gravity of what I was saying. Initially, the crowd was a bit rowdy, but by the end of the promo, they were hanging on my every word.”
