In an electrifying event during the September 23rd episode of Monday Night RAW, Jey Uso triumphed over Bron Breakker to clinch the title of WWE Intercontinental Championship.
This marked Jey Uso’s initial independent title victory in his wrestling career in WWE. He managed to secure this title opportunity by emerging as the winner of a #1 contender’s tournament over a span of few weeks on WWE RAW, in the race for the Intercontinental Title.
With this victory, Jey created a historic milestone by forming the second father-son duo in WWE history to secure the Intercontinental Championship. This achievement puts him in the illustrious company of “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig and his offspring, Curtis Axel.
The month of June 2000 saw Jey’s father, Rikishi, winning the star-studded championship title. However, his reign was short-lived, ending just 13 days later with Val Venis snatching the title, marking his only time as a singles champion in WWE.
Sitting on the other end of the spectrum, Mr. Perfect enjoyed two victorious streaks as the Intercontinental Champion from April 1990 to August 1991, with his reign extending to an impressive 404 days.
Axel won the championship title at the Payback tournament in June 2013, defeating formidable opponents Wade Barrett and The Miz in a nail-biting Triple Threat match. However, his reign came to an end at the hands of Big E in a November episode of RAW, ending his championship run at 155 days.
