For over 25 years, Michael Cole has been an intrinsic part of WWE, prompting questions about a possible place for him in the company’s Hall of Fame.
Before his arrival at WWE in 1997, Cole was a war correspondent. He made his mark in the wrestling world as a regular commentator on Monday Night RAW and SmackDown.
Recently, on an episode of the “WrestleBinge” podcast, Jerry Lawler, Cole’s long-time co-host, expressed his thoughts about the potential of Cole’s Hall of Fame induction. Lawler stated,
“I’m astounded that he’s not yet in the Hall of Fame. But he’s fantastic. He was truly excellent. I must say, they’ve paired me with multiple co-hosts. Initially, I partnered with Vince McMahon, which was an excellent experience. He was exceptionally good at what he did. Then, I transitioned to work with JR, who was simply a natural, and he’s still applying his craft with AEW. Yes, I do maintain contact with him. After JR, Michael entered the picture, and he demonstrated the same natural talent.”
In 2007, Lawler had his entrance into the Hall of Fame ushered in by William Shatner of Star Trek fame. That same year, Steve Austin presented the honor to Jim Ross.
In addition to his commentary role, Cole has occasionally stepped into the ring for WWE. He currently holds a 3-9 match record with the organization.
