In the latest episode of “My World,” a podcast hosted by WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett, he touched upon the evolution of the TNA tag team division in 2010, along with the journey of the Motor City Machine Guns, among other things.
eWn has reported that The Motor City Machine Guns are the new addition to WWE roster. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, the faces of the team, are expected to make their debut at WWE NXT’s Chicago event on October 1.
Key takeaways from the podcast are:
About TNA’s tag team division in 2010: “We had stalwarts like the Steiners and the Dudleys among us. There were a number of renowned tag teams that had either been part of WCW or WWF at some point. But if you delve into the early stages of tag team division, we had America’s Most Wanted and Triple X, among others. “It took time to build the division and it was impressive to see when the Guns faced off against Beer Money. Their style of wrestling was truly unique and it was a joy to witness them engrossing the audience completely. I personally believe that at that point, we arguably had the best tag team wrestling globally.”
About his experience working with Motor City Machine Guns in TNA: “I was fortunate to have worked with them. The X Division became popular in ’02 but didn’t reach its potential until ’06. That’s a four-year journey. The national breakthrough for Bucks was still some time away. The tag teams that emerged during this time period were all exceptional. To see two guys from Detroit, Michigan making it big was a thing of beauty. If I remember correctly, they used to raise their hands, representing the state of Michigan and pointing to where Detroit is situated. Their meteoric rise in their career is a testament to their talent. And let me tell you, if you are exceptionally good at what you do inside the ring, you will eventually rise to the top. And that’s what happened with them.”
