In a recent episode of his podcast, “My World,” WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett shared his thoughts on several topics, one being the state of the TNA tag team division in 2010, and particularly the Motor City Machine Guns.
News has been making rounds on eWn that Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, popularly known as The Motor City Machine Guns, have penned a deal with WWE. Their tentative debut is expected to take place during WWE NXT’s Chicago event scheduled for October 1st.
Here are some notable points Jarrett made during the podcast:
Discussing the TNA tag team division in 2010, Jarrett expressed – “We welcomed various established tag teams from WCW and WWF. During this time, homegrown teams began their evolution and took time to build. Storm was with America’s Most Wanted, and Alex and Chris were tag teams. The establishment started gaining momentum when we struck gold with Beer Money—two individuals on singles careers. Seeing the Guns go against Beer Money—both homegrown teams—was spectacular. They were four young guys, and they truly brought the house down with their distinct wrestling styles. I believe, at this point, we had the best tag team wrestling in the world.”
Sharing his experience of working with the Motor City Machine Guns in TNA, Jarrett commented – “I consider myself very fortunate. Reflecting on the X Division, it didn’t hit national spotlight until ’06, four years after it actually started. Around that time, we saw the rise of new talents such as Bucks. Among these talents, two guys from Detroit, Michigan, stood out—the Guns. They had terrific talent and certainly knew their way around the ring. When you possess such talent, it’s bound to stand out in this industry.”
