During a recent episode of his “My World” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett delved into the formation of the World X Cup in TNA Wrestling, the signing of Eric Young, along with various other matters.

Here are some highlights from the podcast:

When discussing the addition of Eric Young to TNA, Jarrett commented, “Eric was incredibly versatile; he could fill any role, whether heel or babyface, opening match or main event, and everything in between. That, to me, is his biggest strength. He is an exceptional talent, terrific at conveying a range of emotions, and could always succeed in any role he was given.

Jarrett continued, “A great example of this is Eric’s ability to narrate a story just through his eyes. I remember Vince McMahon always saying, ‘It’s all in the eyes.’ You could see Eric’s emotions directly in his eyes. I am grateful to Scott D’Amore for introducing Eric to TNA. D’Amore offered a lot of talent suggestions when I was looking for someone to support me in the early days of TNA.”

On the topic of the World X Cup idea, Jarrett stated, “I came up with that concept, and it was aimed to differentiate us from other promotions and present a unique experience. It was a blend of teams from Mexico, Canada, USA, Japan, and other countries – a sort of a wrestling Olympics. The format was varied, with singles, tag teams, six-man and eight-man matches and all kinds of gimmicks. Above all, the World X Cup highlighted the athletic talents of the X Division while simultaneously introducing new international stars to our audience.”
