On a recent episode of his “My World” podcast, the origin of Jeff Jarrett’s signature wrestling move, the Stroke finisher, featured prominently. The session also included discussions around the likelihood of Jarrett securing yet another AEW title, among other things.
Here are few notable points from the podcast:
When speaking about the prospects of winning an AEW championship, Jarrett mentioned his conversations with fellow wrestlers Jay Lethal and Sonjay. He expressed, “I’ve been fortunate in my career and take great pride in my achievements. I thought my wrestling days were behind me, but as we approach the new year, I can’t help but feel excited. Perhaps 2025 will be the year I’ll collect more championship gold.”
Jeff Jarrett also delved into the origins of his famed finisher, the Stroke. He admitted, “I am not the bulkiest wrestler out there, but there came a time at WWF when we collectively felt the need for a distinct finishing move.” Jarrett had previously used the Figure Four and jumping DDT. Upon his return, they brainstormed for something unique and came up with the Stroke. He added, “I suggested using the reverse Russian leg sweep where the opponent takes a face bump. Everyone agreed, and we went with it. When I switched to WCW, it was incorporated into the storyline. The rest, as they say, is history.”
