In his latest episode of “My World” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett shared his thoughts on the forthcoming Fatal 4-Way AEW World Title Match. The match, to be held at AEW Worlds End 2024, features Jon Moxley, Hangman Page, Orange Cassidy, and Jay White.
Here are a few standout points from the podcast:
Regarding his support for Hangman Page in the AEW Worlds End World Title Fatal 4-Way Match: “Hangman is my guy – I wouldn’t be surprised if he finds a way to win. I mean, it’s a four-way clash of unique styles. You cannot say they are all the same because they all bring something different to the table. I’ve noticed and appreciated that. In a way, I find myself rooting for Hangman.”
On the challenge of discerning whether fans want victories and losses to matter, or just to witness great matches: “This question hits at the very basics of wrestling. Talent development, match design, promotion – all can be varied. But the basics remain. Time, as we know, takes time. There’s also the online conversations and tribalism – it’s a pulse check of sorts, even if not a definitive one. The public’s reactions to Cody or Roman’s moves, and Roman’s record of main events and WrestleManias, are all to be considered. Having been around the scene for a few years, I know that you have to look deeper – at minute-to-minute ratings, social media engagement, merchandise and event sales. You have to factor in everything.”
“It’s similar to understanding music – being present, staying in the game and really understanding it requires tuning in, literally. Listening to the audience reactions, not just cheers and boos. You can truly grasp the impact when a wrestler’s music hits, or the vibe post a 1-2-3 count. The fan response, the buzz – these are major indicators. I feel the wrestling industry sometimes overlooks these foundational elements.”
