As was previously noted on eWn, WWE has demonstrated an interest in bringing aboard NJPW wrestling veteran, Jeff Cobb. At present, Cobb is unaffiliated with any organization.
Despite speculation that Cobb has been added to WWE’s internal roster, there has been no confirmation to support this. AEW insiders have further fuelled these rumors by suggesting that Cobb’s appearance on AEW may not necessarily herald a joining in the future.
Via Twitter, Cobb addressed the circulating WWE rumors by saying, “Geez guys chill out! I’ve just opened my eyes to an absolute barrage of notifications! It seems I need to clarify a few things. Allow me to set everyone’s minds at ease… Actually, the rumors are completely TRUE. I’m taking Naito out of the New Japan cup LIVE TODAY! So turn on to njpwworld! #NJPW #NJPWWorld #NJCup.”
In response to the buzz, Cobb posted a light-hearted tweet: “Alright, alright, I’ve been a bit cryptic regarding the rumors… Here’s what’s really going on… I discovered an incredible sandwich joint next to the high-quality gym in Osaka! Absolutely scrumptious!”
