WWE Hall of Fame inductee JBL has expressed his interest in joining the WWE commentary team. However, he acknowledged that he doesn’t see this happening anytime soon.
In a recent episode of the “Something to Wrestle” podcast, JBL entertained the idea of a possible return to the commentary table. When asked about it, he responded,
“I’d certainly be interested. But I don’t think there’s a position for me right now, nor do I see one coming up. Our commentators at the moment are fantastic. I’m impressed by Pat McAfee’s performance. Wade Barrett and Booker T are also doing a phenomenal job. And Corey Graves; I have a lot of respect for them. They are all fulfilling their roles in a way that is likely better than I could.”
Subsequently, JBL affirmed that the WWE commentary team is currently fully staffed, which means there is no room for him at the moment. He added,
“would I love doing it? Without a doubt. I truly enjoyed the camaraderie backstage and working collaboratively with Michael Cole. Nevertheless, there’s no vacancy, and that makes a future in commentary unlikely.”
JBL, a former SmackDown commentator and partner of Michael Cole from 2006 to 2007, returned to the commentary desk in 2012 as a stand-in for Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler.
