During a recent episode of his podcast “Something To Wrestle With”, wrestling commentator JBL expressed a longing to reunite with his former co-commentator, Michael Cole, in the WWE commentary box.
A few key conversations from the podcast are available for your perusal below:
Answering a query about his interest in working again with Michael Cole for WWE commentary, JBL stated: “Indeed, I’d be interested. However, there’s no vacant position at the moment and I don’t foresee any opening up. Now, I don’t want anyone to misconstrue my words. The current commentators are terrific. I believe Pat McAfee is doing excellently, as are Wade and Booker. Corey and the rest of the team are fantastic. These guys are better than I ever was at filling these roles. So, essentially, there are no existing roles. Would I relish it? I definitely would. It was great to be around the guys and work with Michael, but with no positions open, there’s no future for me in a commentary role.”
Speaking about Vince Russo, JBL elaborated, “Frankly, I haven’t addressed Russo at all. He brought up the Brawl for All, and he’s trying to make a living out of stirring controversy. If the topic isn’t about me, then it’s about someone else. I have no inclination to get involved in a dispute with someone who hasn’t been able to go back to any of his former workplaces. That fact alone speaks volumes about him. He’s conspicuously absent from WWE reunions and similar events. He thrives on controversy. If the subject matter isn’t me, then it’s about another person. I’m not interested in engaging in an internet altercation with this individual.”
