WWE Legend and Hall of Famer JBL has expressed his desire to see John Cena achieve his 17th World Title triumph before the wrestling star takes his final bow in 2025.
Cena broke the news of his plan to retire next year during WWE Money in the Bank 2024. His retirement journey will be celebrated with a series of matches.
In a recent installment of the “Something To Wrestle” podcast, JBL opened up about Cena’s upcoming swansong, sharing his thoughts and emotions. He said,
“Cena, I respect and admire him. I hold hope that he secures the seventeenth championship. Witnessing that record being shattered would be exhilarating, and undoubtedly mark a historical and enjoyable moment. I’m saddened by the fact he’s retiring. As much as I’m going to relish every second of it, part of me wishes individuals like him could stay with us forever.”
”Cena’s legacy won’t fade, he will remain an integral part of us, albeit not in the same capacity. Even though he might engage in various activities in the future, his time as a regular in-ring competitor is nearing its end. His retirement is bittersweet; his career has been truly remarkable.”
John Cena is recognized as a 16-time WWE World Champion. His initial title was earned at WrestleMania 21 in April 2005 by defeating none other than JBL himself.
John Cena’s wrestling journey does not end here; he is slated to appear on Netflix’s RAW debut on January 6. This will be followed by the Royal Rumble in February, and promotions are already underway for Cena’s appearance at March’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event.
