In his recent participation in the “Something To Wrestle With” podcast, JBL shared his insights concerning The Hollywood Ending featuring Mariah May and Toni Storm at AEW Revolution 2025.

Here are a couple of key moments during the podcast:

Speaking about The Hollywood Ending with Mariah May and Toni Storm, JBL stated: “To tell you the truth, I didn’t watch the entire match closely – I saw snippets on social media, which is how I generally keep tabs on things. Remember when Eddie [Guerrero] and I were partners, we needed something substantial. Our bit took place at the Staples Center… We required something monumental. People often fret about Eddie cutting too deep. That’s just not true. He had what we used to refer to as a business blade. Appearance-wise, it was dagger-like… They might have needed something like that, but I can’t say for certain.”

He continued, “It doesn’t bother me. It’s shocking, it’s grotesque. More so when it involves women because that’s not something we’re accustomed to. But hey, it got people talking. While I can’t say for sure, I don’t think the chatter is necessarily negative. AEW has been grappling with getting noticed lately. People’s opinion about them has turned – Initially, the organization was the internet’s favourite child. However, the downside to being the interne’s darling is that they can easily turn against you. That is the situation AEW finds itself in right now. In my opinion, they generated the buzz they were aiming for. Speaking for myself, I had no issues with it.”

When discussing the blood baths he and Eddie Guerrero used to have, JBL shared, “We brought the blood baths to life for a particular purpose. We weren’t just spontaneously deciding to go out there and bleed heavily. We knew we were going to create a vivid scene, and it was definitely premeditated. At that time, a major chunk of the SmackDown squad was missing. We felt the need to create something that would set the wrestling world abuzz.”

He concluded by saying, “It met our expectations. I was okay with that. I would say the same strategy was leveraged with Toni Storm. Looking at the pictures of her in that state – repelling to the core. But that’s its objective. I believe it hit the mark.”
