JBL Defends Kevin Owens’ Frustrations Over Injury Leak

In a recent episode of the podcast “Something To Wrestle With,” WWE legend JBL talked about the injury of Kevin Owens also known as ‘The Prizefighter’ and his disappointment regarding the premature leak of his injury news.

Here are some notable moments from the podcast:

JBL on Kevin Owens’ injury: “I wish it was just a performance — sadly, it doesn’t seem that way. It’s awful. It’s disheartening to see someone, especially at the pinnacle of their career like Kevin Owens, go through this. It’s an unfortunate reality that many individuals in this profession face. Injuries and surgeries are far too common occurrences. Despite being a common occurrence, it never gets easier to see someone go through it. Owens, a vibrant presence, is currently in his prime. His performances thus far have been exemplary — it’s surprising to see him face an injury after years of a flawless record. His stunts, in the indie scene and WWE, certainly leads one to wonder how he’s stayed injury-free for so long. It’s reminiscent of Rob Van Dam who seemed equally invincible. Alas, either years of high-risk performances caught up with him or some incident occurred, causing him to recuperate for a lengthy duration. We can only hope that he recovers swiftly following his surgery.”

JBL on Owens being aggravated by the leak of his injury news: “Without a doubt, his frustration is justified. This was an unauthorized leak by an insider, a frequent occurrence we’ve unfortunately grown accustomed to. These insiders have an undying habit of revealing confidential information. While it was always agreed that such individuals need to be reprimanded, they remain hard to identify. This problem dates back to my early days in WWE, circa ’96, when Bret Hart made it known that such misdemeanors won’t be tolerated. Instances of insiders facing the consequences are rare. Vampiro, for instance, took action against a mole in Mexico, a move that I fully commend. It’s unfortunate that Kevin Owens didn’t get the chance to control the narrative of his own situation. These insiders erode trust for mere online popularity but rarely reap any real-life benefits. I consider it the lowest form of behavior.”
