On the “Wrestling Life” podcast, professional wrestler James Storm shared the reasons he declined to sign with WWE’s NXT brand in 2015, despite making two appearances for the brand. Instead, he opted to return to TNA Wrestling.
Storm clarified that while many assumed his decision was financially driven, that was not the case. Triple H had reassured him that Vince McMahon appreciated his character and assured him he wouldn’t be in NXT for long. Despite this, Storm had no issue with wrestling in NXT as he was fond of many people there. However, when the contract was presented to him, the number of dates had significantly increased.
At that point in time, Storm and his wife were attempting to start a family, and the augmented dates would not have been conducive to this. “The increased dates didn’t align with my personal plans. Being with TNA was a more suitable choice as they weren’t as packed with house shows, keeping to mainly TV and Pay-per-view events,” said Storm.
Nonetheless, Triple H advised him to maintain his physical condition, hinting at possible opportunities in the future. Storm shared that he continually maintains his fitness because, as Jim Ross mentioned on his podcast, if WWE ever calls, they don’t want to wait for an athlete to get in shape. They expect you to be ready immediately.
