WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts shared insights into the Florida territory, Jimmy Garvin, and more during a recent episode of his “The Snake Pit” podcast.
Highlights from the podcast include:
Talking about the Florida territory: “The Florida domain was truly remarkable. It wasn’t just a place, but a special one, with fans who were notably well-informed. The trends or strategies that emerged there often propagated to other territories.”
About Jimmy Garvin: “He was a skilled individual. He further rose to fame as a member of the Freebirds. He definitely had an abundance of talent.”
Sharing a prank story about Garvin: “Oh, the things we used to do to each other! I remember a night when he travelled back with us from Jacksonville. We made him sit in the front seat, engaged him in narrating stories and offered him beer. He narrated a nerve-racking experience where during an underwater diving expedition, he got stuck in a sinkhole. He just barely escaped but was already hallucinating due to depleted oxygen. His description of a dark veil taking over was chilling.
Right when he finished his story, we had readied a prank. We splattered a dozen eggs on his head along with a can of beer and topped it off with a five-pound bag of flour. All of this in a new, rented Lincoln. After we finished laughing, he complained about how the heavy dough formed was pulling his long, curly hair. We then stopped at a truck stop so that he could wash off the dough. With his huge dough head, we left him at the truck stop and drove off. He eventually reached home two hours later than us.”
