In a recent episode of his podcast “The Snake Pit”, wrestling legend Jake Roberts shared anecdotes from his initial meeting with Tony Khan, the President of AEW. The topic centered around his association with Lance Archer.
Here’s a snapshot of what Jake Roberts shared in the podcast:
In the context of being paired with Lance Archer for the first time, Roberts disclosed: “I was informed that they planned on teaming me up with Lance, and they inquired if I was familiar with him. My response was, ‘No, I don’t have the faintest idea who he is.’ [Laughs] Following that, they told me, ‘We intend to create these vignettes.’ The most memorable one we filmed was at Darby Allin’s residence, with the ring in the open field. That was a fantastic experience.”
While commenting on his initial exchanges with Khan, he expressed: “They were simply outstanding. I find engaging in conversations with Tony enjoyable. He possesses a vast knowledge about wrestling. He is more informed about me than I am about my own self. That’s factual. He can astound you with dates and details related to me. I’m like, ‘That’s unbelievable.’”
On being quizzed if he felt anxious during his debut AEW appearance, Roberts brushed it off saying: “Absolutely not, it felt as natural as cycling. The overwhelming cheer from the crowd gave me a rush. The crowd’s cheer was so loud it was almost deafening. It made me feel truly special. I’m deeply grateful for the fans for giving me that response.”
