On his preference for being a heel and turning in 1991: “No, I wanted to turn heel… I wanted to be a heel again, man. I have much more fun being a heel. I enjoyed it more… I knew if I turned heel, I had an opportunity to go with the champ, and that’s what I wanted.”

On his persistent neck injury and wrestling through it: “It kept just flaring up, and I tried my best to fight it… Yeah, It was better [by 1991 after surgery]. But every time I gave a DDT, I would feel electrical current go through my body. And it shocked me each time I did a DDT, but I couldn’t quit doing those. It scared me. It really scared me… Man, I was scared to death. But I kept doing it…I had to. They’re [doctors] telling me to get the f**k outta the ring. That was their remedy for it, was to get outta the ring. ‘Quit doing that.’”

On his most lucrative rivalries: “Oh, me and [Randy] Savage. Me and [Ricky] Steamboat.”
