On a recent episode of his popular podcast, “The Snake Pit”, WWE inductee into the Hall of Fame, Jake Roberts, discussed his professional experiences with The Dynamite Kid during their time together in Stampede Wrestling.
Some of the key topics from the podcast are outlined below:
When discussing The Dynamite Kid, Roberts said: “Oh, he was exceptional, truly. He was a breath of fresh air, an unparalleled talent. The moves he made in the ring, it was like no one had seen such performances before. When my time in Calgary came to an end, I attempted to convince Bill Watts to take him on board. After hearing about his size from me, Watts was like, ‘Are you seriously telling me this?’ I responded, ‘I assure you, this is no joke. This guy is all about the big earnings.’ Despite my strong recommendation, Watts disregarded him.”
As for his personal exchanges with The Dynamite Kid, Roberts shared: “From my experience, he was a pleasant individual. As a matter of fact, we lived in the same apartment complex, with his unit located above mine.”
Regarding his professional rapport with Hercules Ayala, Roberts reminisced: “Of course, I do have memories of him. Ayala, too, shifted to Mid-South after leaving Calgary behind. Let’s just say, he was no rookie. He was a ring veteran and knew what he was up to when inside the squared circle.”
