In a recent episode of his podcast, “The Snake Pit,” WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts shared his thoughts on the unexpected turn of events when John Cena turned heel last time at WWE Elimination Chamber: Toronto.

When questioned on whether John Cena’s turn to heel was a step in the right direction, Roberts responded: “Yes, absolutely. Certainly, why not? It’s time for many reasons. Firstly, Cody is the top babyface now. Therefore, it’s necessary to shift the focus from other guys, so he shines alone. Making Cena play the villain will inevitably make Cody come out on top, which is the intended outcome.”
Meanwhile, regarding whether Cena carried the indispensable ‘It Factor,’ like other popular stars, Roberts expressed his doubt: “I’m not convinced he did. This isn’t personal, but I’ve always had a difficult time engaging with him.”
Roberts also revealed his thoughts on what he believes Cena lacks, stating, “Nothing in particular, honestly. He just lacks that certain aspect that sets him apart. His interviews are decent, and his performance was outstanding. However, he didn’t have that certain ‘spark.’ It required a great deal of effort on his part.”
