In the latest episode of WWE NXT, Jacy Jayne successfully defended her recently-acquired NXT Women’s Championship against the novice, Lainey Reid. This occurred after Reid provoked Jayne backstage with a double slap.
The competition was surprisingly well-balanced, with Reid giving a commendable effort and nearly overturning Jayne on several occasions. However, Jayne managed to maintain her championship, ensuring Fatal Influence’s dominance in the division.
In a swift turn of events post-match, NXT General Manager Ava took the stage to disclose that Jayne is set to defend the NXT Women’s Championship at the impending WWE Evolution premium live show.
Who will pose as Jayne’s contender? This is yet to be decided through a series of elimination matches starting next week at NXT. The victors of these four individual matches will subsequently enter a No. 1 contender’s Fatal 4-Way match on June 24th. The final winner will get the exciting opportunity to challenge Jayne.
Moreover, there’s more brewing in NXT. Mariah May, now known as Blake Monroe, will be signing her NXT contract next week, a move that mirrors the introduction of Ricky Saints. If this happens a third time, it could signal a new pattern going forward.
Interestingly, based on their recent locker room exchanges, Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura will form a team with TNA’s Elijah to square off against A.J. Francis and KC Navarro. These two fighters, who have recently allied with TNA World Champion Trick Williams, will present a formidable challenge.
