Ivar Recalls John Cena & Vince McMahon’s Indie Cameo, Oba Femi Talks Parental Support

Recently, Ivar reminisced about the 2007 Chaotic Wrestling event, where John Cena and Vince McMahon were in attendance.

Cena and McMahon graced the independent CW Homecoming event in Byfield, Massachusetts, wherein Cena played the role of the guest referee for the main showdown, and McMahon’s surprise entrance added an unexpected element.

Ivar discussed this unforgettable event on a recent episode of the “Insight” podcast.

You can find some highlights from the podcast discussion below:

Discussing how the event transpired: “(Cena) was keen on conducting a benefit show, as his brother, a police officer, had encountered an accident. Cena embarked on fund-raising for their police department, consulted with his father, approached Chaotic Wrestling, and planned the benefit show. Vince gave John the green signal to proceed.”

Ivar also remembered his confusion seeing a suited figure enter the ring while he was watching the main match backstage, oblivious of the fact that it was McMahon. This man, McMahon, proceeded to back Brian Milonas, the heel of the match, only to face Cena confronting him.

On Cena landing McMahon with an Attitude Adjustment: “Vince took the worst Attitude Adjustment ever, comparable to his last Stunner, rolled out of the ring over the guardrail, straight to a waiting limo, and then disappeared. The only ones aware of McMahon’s participation were John and the promoter, James [Jamitkowski], and they were dubious if he would turn up… It seems incredible that he did this for John.”

In a recent episode of “The Ring Wrestling Show,” Oba Femi stated that his parents are supportive of his wrestling path, particularly since he has made the effort to familiarize them with the sport.

In the upcoming NXT New Year’s Evil 2025, Femi will be wrestling against Trick Williams for the NXT Championship.

You can find some highlights from the podcast conversation below:

On his family compelling him to finish his education before entering wrestling: “In retrospect, I have no regrets about completing [college]. True, it was they who urged me to do it in the first place. … Regardless, I feel no remorse for returning to finish my degree. It is something to fall back on, a possession that is absolutely yours. Things happen for distinct reasons. For instance, why I joined WWE officially in 2022 and not a year prior — who is to say that had I joined earlier, it would have been my year?”

Regarding his parents’ support for his career: “My parents now understand wrestling in a significant way. Since I’ve explained to them the course of things and how you ascend the steps of success. Hence, when they witness the accolades I earn, they know what’s happening. However, they don’t know it all. … Wrestling’s essence can only be truly understood in the ring.”
