Former WWE scriptwriter, Vince Russo, holds the opinion that the WWE is misspending its resources by primarily focusing on its existing audience, instead of endeavoring to attract a fresh fanbase.
In the current iteration of WWE, it appears that the organization is favoring their hardcore fanbase by promoting Superstars that are well-liked by this fan group, counting Sami Zayn and Chad Gable among these popular figures.
During a recent episode of his podcast, “Writing With Russo”, the one-time WWE scribe asserted that WWE’s focus is aimed toward the incorrect sector of fans. He voiced his thoughts stating,
“Devotees of WWE are supportive because of their intense affection for the organization. It is a major element of their lives. They willingly lend their support, be it financial or in the form of buying tickets. The peculiar part is that the WWE does not have to engage this particular audience. These fans are voluntarily providing support. So, accept their money, allow them to back the organization, but catering to this particular fanbase is something I don’t understand.”
The imminent large-scale WWE event will be tonight’s NXT Battleground pay-per-view, closely followed by WWE Clash At The Castle: Scotland which will occur next Saturday.
