Recently, the ‘Pro Wrestling News’ Twitter handle posted news about WWE’s probable plan to introduce United States and Intercontinental Titles specifically for female wrestlers. The report suggests that one title will be for RAW and the other for the SmackDown franchise, mimicking the gender-specific allocation of the men’s Intercontinental Championship and US Title.
Fightful Select has, however, countered these reports by stating that none of the talent has been informed about such new introductions. Despite the lack of official confirmation, there is a general optimism that new titles will be infused into the system sooner rather than later.
In recent developments, WWE announced a brand-new NXT Women’s North American Championship last month, crowning Kelani Jordan as the inaugural champion after a Ladder Match at WWE NXT: Battleground.
According to a tweet by PWN, “According to one of our sources, #WWE has the Women’s US Title and Women’s IC title in the works. One for #WWERaw and the other for #SmackDown.”
