Cody Rhodes, the reigning WWE Universal Champion, has conveyed his willingness to go head-to-head with John Cena on his forthcoming farewell tour from WWE.
The imminent retirement of Cena was publicized during the WWE Money in the Bank event, held recently in Toronto. Projected to occur in 2025, Cena’s retirement sees the ending of an illustrious career.
Rhodes, on appearing at the Fanatics Fest in New York City, was queried about his interest in wrestling against Cena when the latter’s retirement tour kickstarts next year. He responded by saying,
“It would be an unparalleled honor in my wrestling career to challenge John Cena in any way possible. His status as the greatest of all time is well-deserved.”
The immediate future for Rhodes is action-packed as he plans to take part in the forthcoming WWE Bash in Berlin, where he will fight to retain his title against challenger Kevin Owens.
Meanwhile, John Cena will transition to TV as a part of WWE Monday Night RAW’s switch to Netflix. The showcase program of WWE is set for a premiere on the streaming service in January 2025.
