Maven doesn’t understand why people don’t like former WWE announcer and Tough Enough competitor Josh Matthews.

During a recent appearance on the “Notsam Wrestling” podcast, Maven commented on the notion that people have an issue with Matthews, and more.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On the notion that people have an issue with Matthews: “I’ve never understood why. Why would anyone hate Josh?”

On beating Matthews in the first season of Tough Enough: “Josh could have won Tough Enough easily. I’m glad he didn’t because I think he’s had a better overall career in what he’s landed. He’s the Kevin Dunn of TNA, and he’s good at it!”

In other news, Calvin Tankman captured the DEADLOCK Pro World Title by defeating Colby Corino at the company’s December 10th live event.

Speaking on a recent edition of the “MuscleManMalcolm” podcast, Tankman commented on his big moment, and more.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On his pronounced rise in the DPW hierarchy: “A culmination of a lot of work, man. I’ve been there since day one, I’d like to think of myself as one of the stars, the fans call me the gatekeeper. But now the gatekeeper has become the standard. I think it’s been that way for a while, I just needed to go through with it.”

On what it felt like when the three count happened: “It’s always a shock. Not shock as in I didn’t think I could do it, but as a wrestler, you’re always thinking, ‘If they kick out of this, I’ll go to this next.’ When the three count happens, it’s like, oh wait, they didn’t kick out of this one? [laughs] Then the explosion of emotion hits after it sets in.”

Maven, the winner of the first season of WWE’s “Tough Enough,” recently expressed his confusion over why people have an issue with former WWE announcer and fellow “Tough Enough” competitor, Josh Matthews. Maven and Matthews both competed on the reality show, but it was Matthews who went on to have a longer career in the wrestling industry.

During an appearance on the “Notsam Wrestling” podcast, Maven discussed the criticism that Matthews receives and shared his admiration for his former competitor. Maven stated, “I’ve never understood why. Why would anyone hate Josh?” He also acknowledged that Matthews could have easily won “Tough Enough” and praised his successful career, comparing him to Kevin Dunn, a prominent figure in TNA.

Maven’s comments shed light on the often overlooked contributions and accomplishments of wrestlers who may not have won reality shows but have gone on to have successful careers in the industry. It highlights the fact that winning a competition like “Tough Enough” doesn’t necessarily guarantee long-term success in professional wrestling.
