As we’ve been reporting throughout the course of the day here on eWn, main roster and NXT cuts are taking place today. Some of the names released so far include Dolph Ziggler, Mustafa Ali, Riddick Moss, Emma, and others.
Fightful Select has provided some additional details on today’s cuts, which you can see below:
* Mustafa Ali’s WWE contract was originally set to expire in the spring/summer of next year. It was noted that nobody in WWE NXT had any idea he was going to be released. It was also said that Ali worked through an injury during his time on the NXT brand in recent months. Some of you may recall that Ali requested his release from WWE back in 2022, but it was denied.
* Elias hadn’t appeared on TV for a while. It is said that he wasn’t out with an injury and it was a case of creative not having anything for him. It was added that the former 24/7 Champion was reportedly pitching ideas for his characters but nothing came of it.
* Paul Heyman was said to have been a big supporter of Riddick Moss when Heyman was the Executive Director of RAW. It was said at the time that Heyman thought he could elevate Moss to the main event level. With that being said, others within WWE didn’t see anything in Moss, which is why he wasn’t booked very much. Moss and Emma announced their engagement earlier in the summer.

In a surprising turn of events, WWE has made several cuts to its main roster and NXT talent. Among the names released are Dolph Ziggler, Mustafa Ali, Riddick Moss, and Emma. These releases have sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling community, leaving fans and fellow wrestlers alike questioning the reasoning behind these decisions.
One of the most notable releases is Mustafa Ali, whose WWE contract was originally set to expire next year. It is reported that nobody in WWE NXT had any idea he was going to be released, indicating that this decision caught many off guard. Furthermore, it has been revealed that Ali worked through an injury during his time on the NXT brand in recent months. This showcases his dedication and commitment to his craft, even in the face of adversity. It is worth noting that Ali had previously requested his release from WWE in 2022, but the request was denied.
Another surprising release is Elias, who had not appeared on TV for quite some time. Contrary to popular belief, Elias was not sidelined due to an injury. Instead, it seems that creative had nothing substantial planned for his character. Despite reportedly pitching ideas for his character, nothing came to fruition for the former 24/7 Champion. This raises questions about the utilization of talent within WWE and the importance of having a clear direction for each wrestler.
Riddick Moss’s release also raises eyebrows, as he had garnered support from Paul Heyman during Heyman’s tenure as the Executive Director of RAW. Heyman believed that Moss had the potential to reach the main event level, but others within WWE did not share the same sentiment. Consequently, Moss was not given many opportunities to showcase his abilities in the ring. Interestingly, Moss and Emma had announced their engagement earlier in the summer, adding a personal element to this release.
These recent cuts have left fans and industry insiders speculating about the future direction of WWE and the criteria used to determine who stays and who goes. It is evident that talent alone may not be the sole factor in these decisions, as various backstage dynamics and creative decisions come into play. The wrestling world eagerly awaits further updates on the released talent and their potential future endeavors.
