As previously noted, Rocky Romero will face Mistico, formerly known as the original Sin Cara in WWE, on the October 20th AEW Rampage.
Mistico currently holds the CMLL World Middleweight Championship, while Rocky is the CMLL World Historic Welterweight Champion.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that despite Mistico being a CMLL talent, it won’t affect AEW’s relationship with AAA.
“Regarding how booking Mistico affects the relationship with AAA, from an AEW side it does not. They are working with the impression they can book talent from both groups as long as the talent isn’t in the ring together. AAA doesn’t care in the sense them using CMLL talent doesn’t affect their relationship with AAA and CMLL’s lone issue would only be not having them in the same matches and through New Japan, any co-promotion with AEW and New Japan has never allowed Mexican wrestlers who last worked with AAA on the shows,” Meltzer wrote.

Rocky Romero to Face Mistico in AEW Rampage: What You Need to Know
In an exciting announcement, it has been revealed that Rocky Romero will be facing Mistico, formerly known as the original Sin Cara in WWE, on the October 20th episode of AEW Rampage. This match has generated a lot of buzz among wrestling fans, and here’s everything you need to know about it.
Mistico, who currently holds the CMLL World Middleweight Championship, is a highly skilled and charismatic wrestler. He gained popularity during his time in WWE as Sin Cara, where he showcased his high-flying abilities and unique lucha libre style. After leaving WWE, he returned to his original name, Mistico, and continued to make a name for himself in the wrestling world.
On the other hand, Rocky Romero is the CMLL World Historic Welterweight Champion. He is known for his technical prowess and has been a prominent figure in the wrestling industry for many years. Romero has competed in various promotions around the world and has built a reputation as a reliable and entertaining performer.
The match between Mistico and Romero is expected to be a thrilling encounter, with both wrestlers bringing their A-game to the ring. Fans can anticipate an incredible display of athleticism, high-flying maneuvers, and intense action throughout the match.
One interesting aspect of this matchup is its potential impact on the relationship between AEW and AAA (Asistencia Asesoría y Administración), another major Mexican wrestling promotion. Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW’s booking of Mistico will not affect their relationship with AAA. AEW is working under the impression that they can book talent from both groups as long as they don’t compete against each other in the ring. This allows for collaboration and cross-promotion opportunities without any conflicts.
It’s worth noting that CMLL (Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre), the promotion Mistico is currently associated with, has a separate relationship with AAA. While CMLL may have concerns about their talent appearing in the same matches as AAA wrestlers, this issue doesn’t affect AEW’s relationship with AAA.
This match between Mistico and Romero is a testament to the growing cooperation and collaboration between different wrestling promotions. It showcases the willingness of companies to work together and provide fans with exciting matchups that were previously thought to be impossible.
If you’re a wrestling enthusiast, make sure to mark your calendars for October 20th and tune in to AEW Rampage to witness this highly anticipated showdown between Mistico and Rocky Romero. It promises to be a memorable match that will leave fans on the edge of their seats.
