Last week in an AEW Collision event, the enigmatic character Hologram made his much-awaited debut, manifesting after a series of promotional teasers hinting at his introduction.
We have been continuously keeping you updated here on eWn that AEW was working in the background on the Hologram character’s development for more than a year. Aramis, a renowned talent from AAA and GCW, is behind the mask of this engaging gimmick.
Dave Meltzer, in the most recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, discussed the brainchild of AEW President Tony Khan – the Hologram. He expressed,
“Tony Khan had a vision for Aramis for, well, maybe about five, four years. That vision never seemed to come to fruition until now. Since he toyed with the concept, quite a few luchadors have passed through our doors. Aramis is undoubtedly talented, his moves are spot-on, but the question that crosses my mind is how does he stand apart from Komander? To me, Komander is a notch above, but he’s pegged as a jobber…Tony Khan has long dreamt of a luchador superhero of this kind. Aramis is a good fit. But ultimately, it will come down to promoting him effectively and seeing how far this can go.”
In his debut feat, Hologram snatched a fast and decisive victory in a match that was far from equal against Gringo Loco. It’s noteworthy that currently, Gringo Loco does not have a contract with AEW.
