Injury Update On Rey Fenix Following This Week’s AEW Dynamite
Rey Fenix left Dynamite banged up and victorious, but it would appear that no serious injuries occurred.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Fenix is said to be doing OK after a scary spot on AEW Dynamite that left many believing he could have suffered a neck injury. Fenix worked a #1 Contender’s Tournament match against Penta El Zero M, and landed on his head after an inverted top rope Frankensteiner. Fenix could be seen on the broadcast informing Penta and referee Aubrey Edwards that he hurt his neck, but the match continued and finished with Fenix picking up the win. Meltzer reports that the only thing he’d heard regarding Fenix is that “he was sore” after the match.
Fenix will face off against Kenny Omega in the second round of the tournament, while Hangman Page will square off against Wardlow. The winners of those two matches next week will advance to the finals, which take place at AEW Full Gear. The winner of the tournament gets a title shot for the world championship.
