Injury Update On MLW World Champion Alex Hammerstone
– ADVERTISMENT –

MLW World Heavyweight Champion Alex Hammerstone apparently suffered a pulled groin during the War Chamber match earlier this month. The match was originally taped on Thursday, April 6 in New York City.

Fightful Select reports that Hammerstone’s injury is legitimate.

Rickey Shane Page, who also competed in the match, received a tremendous amount of credit from MLW officials for making changes on the fly after Hammerstone was hurt.

Hammerstone’s injury caused him to withdraw from the bout early, and the majority of the match had to be cut out, including the originally planned finish and aftermath.

MLW later filmed an angle between Alex Kane and Davey Boy Smith Jr. to make up for the lost time from the shortened War Chamber match.

While MLW was largely concerned about Hammerstone suffering a groin tear, the injury is said to not be as serious as originally feared.

Hammerstone is currently taking things one day at a time and was also able to film an angle for the Battle Riot TV tapings that took place a couple of days later in Philadelphia, PA on April 8.
