Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green are closing in on two years of wedded bliss, but the former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion wasn’t interested in dating a wrestler at first.
Cardona and Green married in December 2021 after years of dating and would appear regularly together prior to Green’s return to WWE earlier this year.
Speaking on “Off Her Chops,” Cardona recalled how he and Green began dating. He said,
“I just moved to Orlando. I had knee surgery, and Cody and Brandi [Rhodes], my friends, were doing IMPACT! [Wrestling], and I met up with them at City Walk. We went to Cowfish. Ever go there? Brandi was telling me about this girl, Chelsea, who was complaining about being single and I should go on a date with her.
“‘I don’t wanna f*****g date another wrestling chick. Like, no f*****g way.’ But then I looked her up, and I’m like, ‘Ah, she’s okay. She’s kinda hot. Let’s see what happens.’ So that’s kind of the first memory. I didn’t know her before that.”
Green is one-half of the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions and teams with Piper Niven. She also held the gold with Sonya Deville prior to Deville’s ACL tear.

At first, Cardona was hesitant and said, “I don’t wanna f*****g date another wrestling chick. Like, no f*****g way.” However, after looking her up and finding her attractive, he decided to give it a shot. This encounter at Cowfish in City Walk became their first memory together, as Cardona admitted he didn’t know Green before that.
Green is currently one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions and teams up with Piper Niven. She previously held the title with Sonya Deville before Deville suffered an ACL tear.
