During a recent guest appearance on ESPN’s show ‘First Take’, CM Punk broached numerous topics, including a slight controversy ignited by Drew McIntyre’s remarks regarding Punk’s leadership traits, his experiences locking horns with ‘The Scottish Warrior’ and numerous other subjects.
Here are some main points discussed by Punk in this interview:
On the eve of his match at WWE SummerSlam, Punk said: “I am truly excited. The journey back to WWE hasn’t been smooth, as we have certainly had our fair share of issues. Getting injured in January was a major setback. It necessitated a lot of rehab work. But it offered me an opportunity to regroup, refocus and fully grasp this second chance that I have been offered.”
Commenting on Drew McIntyre, his latest opponent, Punk stated: “Drew sees me as his opponent, that’s the whole story. He keeps challenging me, but occasionally, it’s necessary to put them in their place.”
When asked about Drew McIntyre’s hints that he lacks leadership qualities, Punk responded: “I’ve never portrayed myself as a leader. I’m simply trying to fulfil my professional responsibilities and my love for wrestling. I remain a divisive figure for reasons I can’t completely comprehend. I have a habit of stating my views candidly, which sometimes gets me into trouble. I defend myself, and there are people who disapprove of it. Tensions are always bound to arise. But I try my utmost to treat everyone with kindness and respect. However, if they cross a line, I am the person who keeps them in line.”
