Wrestling icon Jerry “The King” Lawler was recently a guest on the ‘Going Ringside’ podcast where he opened up about his time in WWE, working alongside Trish Stratus. Despite their professional interactions, Lawler confirmed that they did not share a personal relationship, neither positive nor negative.
As a commentator, Lawler always exclaimed “puppies!” whenever Stratus was in the ring, a popular phrase among wrestling fans. However, away from the camera, the pair didn’t have much of deep interpersonal connection. He put it thus;
“I had hardly any off-screen relationship with her [Trish Stratus]. What viewers saw on TV fairly reflected the entirety of our interaction. My time spent with her was very limited. Nevertheless, I held her in high esteem.”
He further painted a grimmer picture of their professional camaraderie, remarking,
“There were a few instances early in her career when she would travel with me for a couple of road shows. Those moments were fun. She ultimately rose to huge fame.”
Both Lawler and Stratus hold prestigious positions as members of the WWE Hall of Fame.
