Pro-wrestler Chelsea Green recently commented on how WWE removed Samantha Irvin’s distinctive announcement, only to reinstate it later due to backlash from fans. She viewed this particular entrance intro as something special and was indeed happy to see it make a return.
In the year 2023, it was reported that a high-ranking official at the WWE requested the removal of Irvin’s unique introduction of the Canadian wrestling star. However, fans didn’t take this lightly which led to the organization bringing it back.
During a recent conversation with “Wrestling News,” Green expressed her sentiment about the distinctive entrance and its short-lived discontinuation. She candidly said, “I don’t fully comprehend the reasoning behind the decision, but I believe Samantha was instructed to stop using the announcement. It only lasted briefly. I suspect a higher-up thought it would be better to avoid causing a fuss over the entrances. They probably wanted announcers to keep things simple.”
She goes on to add, “I believe social media advocacy may have influenced the reversal of the decision. Fans really enjoyed my announcing and I was heartbroken when it was taken away, feeling like a small piece of my ring entrance was gone. I voiced my disapproval and asked for it to be retained. But at the end of the day, I have to accept whatever happens. Regardless, my responsibility remains the same: performing in the ring.”
On a separate note, Green was selected to join WWE SmackDown in the latest WWE Draft, while Irvin continues her role as ring announcer for WWE Monday Night RAW.
As for future endeavors, Green has hinted at a special collaboration with Irvin but has left fans in suspense as she has not divulged any specifics.
